Software Engineer (Autonomous Control)
Software Engineer (Autonomous Control)
We’re hiring an Autonomous Systems Software Engineer! You’ll work on everything from designing compact delivery robots to their real-world deployment.

Job Overview
- ■ Recruitment Background:
- Japan’s amended Road Traffic Act came into effect in April 2023, allowing autonomous delivery robots such as LOMBY to operate on public roads. This has placed Japan among the first countries to establish a legal framework for public-road robot operations. We develop both our hardware and software entirely in-house in Japan, and the country’s extensive manufacturing expertise and technology provide a significant advantage in robotics development.
However, Japan has been slower than other countries to adopt delivery robots, and there remains a shortage of engineers working on technologies such as autonomous navigation and sensor control for safe public-road operation. If you are excited to help deploy Japanese-made robots in society and bring them to global markets, we encourage you to apply. Office tours are also available upon request.
- ■ Job Description:
- - Development of vehicle control systems for LOMBY prototypes and mass-production models using Autoware
- - Selection and implementation of sensors, including system configuration planning
- - Design for mass production and technical coordination with external partners during the mass-production development process
- ■ Specific Tasks:
- ■ Internal Communication Language
- - Our team is multinational, so communication in English is required. However, there are no specific English proficiency requirements, as long as you can communicate effectively using methods such as whiteboards or other visual aids.
- ■ Company Overview
- Founded in April 2022, we are a startup developing LOMBY, an autonomous delivery robot designed to operate on public roads. We develop both the hardware and software in-house, with the goal of providing affordable, reliable, around-the-clock robotic labor for last-mile logistics.
In October 2024, we raised ¥270 million, including an investment from Suzuki Motor Corporation, and are now advancing development toward mass production. Our efforts to deploy robots in society have been supported by NEDO since fiscal 2022. In September 2024, we were also selected for NEDO’s Deep-Tech Startups Support Program, with more than ¥2 billion in grant funding. - ¥270 Million Pre-Series A Funding Round (October 2024):

Ideal Candidate Profile
- - A proactive self-starter who takes initiative without waiting for instructions
- - Someone who views real-world deployment as the ultimate goal and is interested in contributing not only to technical development but also to the business aspects of bringing the technology into practical use.
- - Someone passionate about bringing Japanese technology and products to global markets.
- - Someone driven to invent world-first technologies and mechanisms.
